  1. STARTER -In the envelope in front of you, you will find some cards. -Match the correct body system to the correct definition.

  3. Outcomes By the end of this lesson, you will be able to: • Identify the 8 body systems. • Match the correct definition to the correct system. • Understand the interrelationships and their contribution to performance.

  4. Body Systems • What are they? • You have 8 body systems in your body. • Each of these work together to make your body operate. • When you take part in sport, it is not just a case of moving your arms and legs. All the body systems work together.

  5. Your skeletal system • Bones and joints. • Without bones you would be a shapeless heap.

  6. Your muscular system • Is made up of muscles. • Red meat around your body. • The pull on boned and make them move.

  7. Your circulatory system • Blood, heart and blood vessels. • Blood carries food and oxygen round the body and carries waste products away.

  8. Your respiratory system • The lungs and breathing tube. • This is how you take in oxygen and get rid of carbon dioxide.

  9. Your nervous system • The brain, spinal cord and network of nerves. • This controls and coordinates movment.

  10. Your hormonal system • A set of glands which make hormones. • These chemicals help control activities going on in the body.

  11. Your digestive system • The stomach and gut. • This is where the food you eat gets broken down. • You use digested food as uel.

  12. Your excretory system • The lungs, kidneys and intestine. • These get rid or or excrete waste products from your body.

  13. Body Systems TASK • Your teacher will give you a body system to look at. • Using PE to16, draw around one of your friends and include a life size body system. Label your diagram and be prepared to present a short paragraph about your life size body system.

  14. Working together • How do body systems work together? • Just as a car has an ignition system, a break system, and a cooling system for the car to start, So does our bodies.

  15. Homework • Using the given worksheet. Rearrange the order of how the body systems work together to create an accurate diagram.
