Hamilton’s Economic Plan Hamilton’s job as treasurer was to make the economy work. Hamilton advocated for a national bank called The Bank of The United States
The District of Columbia Hamilton offered to move capital from N.Y. to the south in exchange for his economic policies. In 1790 Hamilton’s debt plan was passed by Congress along with authorization for construction of a new capital in the District of Columbia.
