Aims of the session: To share an understanding of why S&L is important at KS3 and beyond…. To learn about some of the S&L activities found in the KS3 curriculum To share strategies for promoting S&L in school and at home Any questions or areas you would like to ask or learn about this lesson – please write them down on your post it!
Think….Pair…Share…. Have a look at the pictures in front of you – what do these individuals have in common? Why? How do you think we ‘taught’ this activity to develop S&L skills and to encourage responses?
What sort of S&L activities take place? [not an exhaustive list!] • Role plays e.g. perform a monologue as character from a book • Debate/discussions e.g. Who is to blame for a character’s death? • Presentations e.g. What annoys you about life in the 21st Century? • Paired and Group work e.g. this is a feature of every lesson!
What skills do you think students draw on in completion of the task? • What skills could have been taught prior to this? • What skills issues would we address to develop it further?
