Dislocation Modeling in FCC Metals Team Members: Christin Alleyne, Brian Allik, Laura Patrick, Michael Zachar Advisor: Dr. Diana Farkas The goal of this project is to establish the relationship between stacking fault energies and deformation in nano-sized crystalline samples of FCC metals using simulated samples and stress. The metals used in this project are Aluminum, Copper, Nickel, and Palladium. The image here is of nickel under tension in the y axis at 7% strain. • The goal of the project will be met by generating the following data: • Stress-strain curves for each studied metal • Tables of which boundary and at what level deformation occurred • Schmid factors and grain disorientation angles • Comparisons of each metal with respect to the above data • At the end of this work, a paper detailing our results will be submitted for publication in JUMR.
