Moral Truth • Moral truth tells us what is right and wrong, what we must do and how we must live if we want to be good people and close to God.
Symbolic Truth • Truth that involves reading between the lines. Physical objects have another more deeper meaning. They are pointing to something more significant.
Proverbial Truth • A kind of folksy truth often short but profound. • A stitch in time saves nine. • A penny saved is a penny earned • A friend in need is a friend indeed.
Historical Truth • Truth that uncovers the human experienceduring a historical period.The bible covers history from 2000 B.C.to 100 A.D. • It is considered one of the most reliablesources for this geographical area duringthat period of time.
Scientific Truth • The science of the Hebrew scriptures we now know is very primitive. However, it provides a glimpse into the beliefs of that time. • For example, the bible describesthe earth as flat, the sun stood stilland creation occurred over sevendays. We now have evidence to refutethisscience but the people of thetime did not.
