Dustin Muncrief Fall 2009
Briarcrest Country Club • Jim Beard or Ryan Bell • 1929 Country Club Drive • Bryan, TX 77802 • Office: (979) 776-0133 • Golf Pro Shop: (979) 776-1490
Site Ranking - • I would give this site 4 stars because it was a great place to learn hands on marketing at and the people were very friendly. However, due to the suffering economic condition of the club, I had to work as a “cart boy” on several different occasions. When looking for experience for my future career, being a cart boy does not fall into to the plan.
Internship Objectives • Action Plan to Rebook All 2008-09 Events • Update list of events • Update Contacts • Action Plan to Book New Events • Identify new and prior events • Create new outing brochure • Compose Cover Letter and mail to contacts • Action Plan to Attract Events Away from Traditions Golf Club • Update contact list and send cover letter/brochure out
Daily Activities • Open Golf Shop and check emails • Emails usually provided me with plans for the day. • Complete email requests. • Work on Marketing Project for 2-3 hours. • Prepare for weekly meetings. • Assist any other department in their daily operations.
Project Summary • My project consisted of developing a marketing plan in order to make Briarcrest Country Club bring in an additional source of income. The idea was to get at least 50% more rounds of golf to be played in the 2010 year, rather than the amount of rounds played in 2009.Prior to this plan, we averaged around forty rounds of golf per week. We do not have an average once the plan was set in place because they were waiting until December 31st to gather all statistics. However, I can say during the last week of my internship, Briarcrest Country Club had 180 rounds of golf played. Of these 180 rounds of golf, 130 of the rounds were from non-members. Therefore, the course made an additional $6,700 of income which would not have been counted for in that week alone.
