Project Read • Project Read helps your child segment and blend letter sounds to form words. • By starting with simple “cvc” words or consonant, vowel, consonant words your child will develop the skills needed to sound out multi-syllable words. • Project Read teaches the “rules” of our language which will help your child become a better speller and not need to memorize words.
Tap and Slidealso known as “Pound and Sound” • Use your fist to tap the table and make the first letter sound. • Repeat for each letter • After tapping out all the letters use your fist to “slide” together all the letter sounds and say the word.

Finger Spell • Use your fingers to make each letter sound as you spell out the Project Read words. • Pop up one finger for each sound you hear in the word. • Say the sound and the letter that makes that sound.

Throw and Catch the Words • Say the word out loud into your hand. • Make a fist and throw the word to your child. • Your child will catch the word in their hand • Your child says each of the sounds slowly as they open up their hand one finger at a time to release the word back into the air.
