Trig. Is a Level 2 Class • This is an honors level program with high standards and expectations. Math courses at this level are fast paced and designed for students who are able to learn new concepts with very limited repetition and guidance. Students who are recommended for these courses: • demonstrate strong computational skills; minimal calculator. • demonstrate proficiency with all previous math concepts. • demonstrate mastery of concepts within established time frames. • demonstrate intellectual curiosity. • extrapolate new ideas and solve multi-step problems. • complete all assignments on time and provide detailed work. • complete long-term assignments independently.
From the Program of Studies • This course is designed as a fast paced introduction to trigonometric functions and their applications. • Emphasis is placed on using trigonometric functions to find: • the missing parts of triangles, • problem solving, • solving trigonometric equations and • proving trigonometric identities. • Also, topics with the complex number system and polar coordinates will be studied. • Graphic calculators are required.

Grading Policy • Tests 60% • Including one major project in the spring • Quizzes 30% • Drop the lowest quiz • Typically 15-20 minutes long • Participation 5% • Homework 5%
