Where have we started? • Put your hand up if... you’ve come to this school with someone else from the same primary school • ....either way everyone will be looking to make and meet new friends
Recipe for friendship • Ingredients: • 2 heaping measures of trust2 well rounded scoops of respect2 generous portions of affection2 equal amounts of sharing • Method: • Stir together until lumps and bumps are dissolved.
What makes a good friend? • Think about the friends you have now, and friends you’ve had in the past • What things make up a good or bad friend? • Sort the qualities in your card sort, then rank • In pairs, fill in the templates on your sheet • Add any other qualities you can think of
Little old Weemee? • Identifying what qualities & interests you have can help build up friendships • We are going to make our own “Weemees” to show other people in the class where our strengths are
Weemee? • Add clothes that you would normally wear outside school • Add items that relate to your outside interests • Add your own hairstyle • Fill in the speech bubble with some of your better qualities
Circle of friendship – Think, pair share • How do you choose your friends? • What governs your choice of friends? • Do your friends have anything in common? • Are all your friends the same sex? • What is the difference between a friend and an acquaintance?
Circle of friendship – Swap partners • Have your friends changed as you have grown older? How? Why? • What is the difference between a friend and a close friend? • Do you make friends easily? Why/why not? • What behaviour would stop you being friends?

Set your goal! • Use a couple of minutes to think about which of your qualities you could practise a bit more on.....would you like to be more patient, sympathetic, generous etc? • Use the “Good friend” template to help you
