Two persons appeared. One was evidently the Lord Jesus Christ. The following day Smith located the plates in a stone box. He returned each year for 4 years and on September 22nd 1827 he was finally given the plates.
April 6th 1830The small group organised themselves into “The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints” Smith married Emma Hale on January 18th 1827, having eloped after her father refused to give consent. Brigham Young led the 400 wagons to “we know not where.” The Mormons arrived July 24th 1847 at Salt Lake Valley, Utah. “This is the place.” A newspaper set up to oppose Smith was attacked and burnt out at Smith’s order. He was arrested, but murdered in jail by a mob of outraged citizens.
