Things to Remember • Uniforms need to be ironed, and footwear shined. • It is recommended you drop your BDUs off at the Dry Cleaners on bi-monthly, and have them starched. You can then wear your BDUstwo-to-four times to weekly meetings without needing to wash them. It costs about $8 , but your uniform will look great. • Boots need to be polished; Kiwi Black is best. • You can procure blousers from the Supply Officer. • Cadets are expected to consistently present themselves at a high standard of dress and appearance. • Hair Cut – needing a haircut will result in your being required to change into a PT Uniform for that particular meeting. • Shave – needing a shave will also result in your being required to change into a PT Uniform for that particular meeting. • With the short-sleeved blue shirt uniform combination, you should be wearing your correct rank, ribbons, cap, belt with chromed buckle, and white v-neck tee shirt. • With BDUs, you should be wearing your correct rank, with Name tape, CAP tape, flag, wing and squadron patches, patrol cap, belt with black buckle, and black tee shirt. Pants must be bloused.
Must Haves at Meetings • CAP ID • Form 161 Emergency Contact Info • Know the Cadet Oath from Memory • "I pledge to serve faithfully in the Civil Air Patrol Cadet Program and that I will attend meetings regularly, participate actively in unit activities, obey my officers, wear my uniform properly and advance my education and training rapidly to prepare myself to be of service to my community, state and nation."
Pre-Meeting • Supplies – Cadets needing rank, ribbons, etc., must arrive no later than 1350 to procure needed items. • The Supply NCO will be available from 1850 to 1900 • Remember your Chain-of-Command. For instance, any questions you have about issues, other than that particular day’s training, should be FIRST addressed to your assigned Mentor or Flight Sergeant. If they don’t have an answer, they will refer you to Senior Staff. • Cadets ask Flight Sergeants • Flight Sergeants ask First Sergeant • First Sergenat asks Activities Officer or Commander
First Formation • 1400 • Cadets are expected to arrive prior to first formation and gather in the Pavers area of the drill square by 1355. • If the Flight Sergeant is not present, the senior Cadet present will form up the flight no later than 1400. • Have your CAP ID and know the Cadet Oath for all meetings. • 1400-1415 • Flight Time – Flight SGTs should use this time to work out recurring issues with their cadets. • Uniform inspections will be conducted by the First Sergeant and Flight Sergeants. • Attendance should already have annotated via the “Sign-In” sheet, prior to reporting to First Formation. However, if you have not signed in, you may do so AFTER formation, and not leave to go do so.
Training Time • 1420-1510 - 1st Training Block • Break • 1520-1410 – 2nd Training Block • Cadets are expected to be focused and attentive during all training • Cadets will be marched from one location to another • Cadets need a pen/pencil and small notebook
Final Formation • 1620-1630 • Promotions, Awards, and Decorations for any Cadets eligible. Note: If you have completed all required tasks for promotion, you will be immediately promoted in e-Services, but your formal promotion will be on the 1st Monday of the following month, unless otherwise approved by the Commander. The purpose of this is to allow your family and friends, outside of CAP, to be present for your special event. • Cadets are expected to have rides waiting and be picked up no later than 1700.
