  1. ALICE Computing Resources requirements WLCG OB 18 March 2011

  2. USAGE in 2010 • Data collected (filtered by physics trigger) • Data processing Reconstruction: 10% MC & Trains: 75% End users A: 15%

  3. Storage filling up quickly

  4. Memory profile PbPbreco

  5. New in the Computing model • Additional reconstruction pass on a fraction of raw data for calibration (central tracking mainly) • Major CPU power increase • in AA reconstruction due to a new V0 finder algorithm • In MC due to additional details in digitization of drift detectors (does not scale with tracks) • New detectors (EMCAL and new TRD modules since 2011) • Trigger mix • in AA selecting central collisions • in pp high multiplicity • Additional post-reco calibration as a tender of the analysis train

  6. New in the Computing model 2010 CM Parameters (comparison with parameters used for the 2010 requirements)

  7. LHC running scenario • pp data taking from March 2011(2012) to October 2011(2012) (135 days, with a 50% LHC availability and a 46% LHC efficiency, 2.7×106 effective seconds; 1.0×109 events, 5×108 MB events + 0.5×108 rare events) • AA data taking from November 2011(2012) to December 2011(2012) (19 days, with a 50% LHC availability and a 46% LHC efficiency, 3.7×105 effective seconds; 7.4×107 events) • LHC shutdown in 2013 Requirements

  8. Comparison with pledges Pledged data from C-RRB October 2010
