In 2003 statistics shown to the US Congress as they prepared the “CAN-SPAM” act asserted: 15 BILLION pieces of SPAM every day 45% of all email is SPAM Most SPAM is just text…annoying but no malware In 2008: 164 BILLION pieces of SPAM every day 97% of all email is SPAM Nearly all SPAM contains malware or URLs to malware The answer is of course, “Yes,” unless you turn on spam-scanning.
