  2. What Is a Production Company? • A production company is accountable for the development of the film from the idea of the film straight to the end product. In addition the production company is also liable for the funding of the film, hence the reason why production companies are normally in charge of the budgeting of a film. Further more production companies also manage the scheduling, scripting along with the accumulation of talent and resources. • Without anyone managing these aspects of the production of a film there would be no film. Production Company of My Media Product • In regards to my media product, I and my group decided that the production company who were going to actually produce the film ‘LOCKED’ was going to be ‘RDMJ’. We concluded that ‘RDMJ’ were going to be an independent production company hence our film was of a small budget. It was also shot in the UK, which already indicates the film didn’t really have any heavy investors hence the UK are already known for not really partaking in developing films with high income. Hollywood is more known for this act, in financial involvements and collaborations with big conglomerate companies such Disney or Sony. The reason why I believed this production company suited our media product best is because ‘RDMJ’ are experienced and have positive history in producing successful low budget thrillers. This meets all the requirements for my media product in order to make it successful in the movie market.

  5. What is a Distribution Company? • A distribution company is liable for the marketing of a media product/Film. The distribution process of a movie or film is by which when the movie is accessible for the audience to view, this is dictated by the distribution company of when the audience are allowed to watch the film. The Distribution CompanyOf My Media Product • in regards to the distribution of my media product, I and my group decided it was going to be distributed by a collaboration of ‘Lions Gate’ and ‘RDMJ’. The reason why we decided to involve ‘Lions Gate’ in the distribution of our media product is because the company has a pedigree for making independent films successful, thrillers in particular. As from 2012 it was announced "the most commercial successful independent film and television distribution company in North America and the seventh most profitable movie studio". This hits the nail on the head for what my media product actually needs; due to the fact my media product is in need of some expertise support in getting the product out there to the audience in the most effective way possible.
