  4. Outlooks • Hazardous Weather Outlook • HWOLSX: FLUS43 • Issued 6 am: Updates as needed • 7 Days

  5. Watch • Issued when there is a good probability that Winter Storm criteria will be met • Typically issued for the Day 2 – 3 time period. • WSW: WWUS43

  6. Warnings/AdvisoriesPrecipitation • Warnings: Life threatening • Advisories: Inconvenience • Simplified Approach • Blizzard Warning • Ice Storm Warning • Winter Storm Warning • Winter Weather Advisory

  7. Warning/Advisory Criteria • Blizzard (3 hours) • Wind 35 mph: Sustained or frequent gusts • Visibility ¼ mile or less

  8. Warning/Advisory Criteria • Ice Storm • Ice accumulation ¼ inch

  9. Warning/Advisory Criteria • Winter Storm Warning • Snow: 6 inches in 12 hours 8 inches in 24 hours • Sleet: ½ inch accumulation • Combination of hazards: snow, sleet, freezing rain, etc.

  10. Warning/Advisory Criteria • Advisories • Snow: 3-5 inches (Headline under 3 inches) • Ice: Under ¼ inch accumulation • Sleet: Under ½ inch accumulation • Combination

  11. Non-Precipitation Events • Wind Chill Warning: -25 or colder • Wind Chill Advisory: -15 to –24 • Headline: –10 to –14 • Blowing Snow Advisory • WSW : WWUS43 Formerly NPW
