Fun Fact! • The largest desert is actually the Antarctic Desert (13,829,430 square km), followed by the Arctic Desert (13,726,937 square km). • It fulfills the definition of a desert - an annual precipitation of less than 250 millimetres. • Polar deserts are mainly composed of bedrock or gravel plains and snow dunes occur commonly in areas where precipitation is high. • The Dry Valleys of Antarctica are a good example of a polar desert.
