Health Tracks, Continued • The Regional Health Tracks Coordinators assist in scheduling appointments • The Coordinators call their local dentists to assess willingness to accept Medicaid
Other Initiatives • Maternal Child Health Technical Assistance Group • State and Federal Medicaid and Maternal Child Health Participants • Looking at Medicaid dental policies and making recommendations to HCFA • Waiting for the Surgeon General’s Report
Solutions • Education of recipients at screening visits using “Smiling Sam” packet • Distribution of toothbrushes and toothpaste at screening visits • Maintain a good working relationship between the regional coordinators and local dentists • Continue to reinforce the importance of showing up for the dental appointment or risk not being seen at all
