COLLEGE COUNCILS • College Council Tips • District Deputies should identify prospects for College Councils as they know the area best. • As District Deputy, continue to nurture existing College Councils, as the turnover is 100% every 4-6 years. • College Council Knights are our future leaders. • When a College Knight turns 68, that means 50 potential years of service.

RETENTION • District Deputy Checklist • When a council submits a Form 1845 • Verify Form 365 is filed with Supreme • Verify a council Retention Chairman is appointed • Verify last two audits are filed with Supreme • Verify 1845 is signed by GK and FS • Verify TX-1845A is completed and signed by GK and FS • Confirm “Remarks” section is complete and legible • Verify council member has been contacted • Verify member is not facing financial or medical hardship • Verify member no longer wants to belong to Order • Verify council member Catholicity • Verify council member is not Honorary Life
RETENTION • Nine Principles for Retaining Knights • R – remember that a council’s most critical assets are its Knights • E – exercise good judgement when deciding who and when to drop • T – training Knights in all council program areas should be continuous • E – educate all Knights on Supreme and State retention policies • N – new Knights want to be involved in council activities • T – transfers and deceased Knights do not count against membership gain quotas • I – informed Knights are involved Knights • O – ongoing retention problems are simply “challenges” • N – new Knights are not to be considered as replacements
