  1. Lesson 4 The Greenhouse Effect and ClimateChange This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No. 710577. This work reflects only its authors’ views; the European Commission (Research Executive Agency) cannot be held responsible for any use of the information contained therein.

  2. Framework of the Lesson In today's lesson we shall study the greenhouse effect, global warming, and their consequences on life on Earth. This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No. 710577

  3. Storytelling https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jGjdYstfiDM This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No. 710577

  5. Questions of the lesson • How can I construct a greenhouse with simple materials? • What is the effect of the greenhouse on the temperature in its interior? (experiment) • How is the greenhouse effect generated on Earth? • Which gases cause the greenhouse effect? • What does global warming mean? • Which are the consequences of the greenhouse effect and of global warming? • Which scientific processes does a scientist follow? • Is the greenhouse effect somethingpositive or something negative for our planet and for humanity? • Does the greenhouse effect exist on other planets? This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No. 710577

  6. Answers-Hypotheses of the students This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No. 710577

  7. Construction of a greenhouse Materials: • straws • cellophane • plasticine Please construct by yourselves a greenhouse like the one shown in the picture This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No. 710577

  8. Experiment/Materials For the experimental arrangement we need: • A construction resembling a greenhouse. A plastic or glass box, or bottle, may be also used. It is suggested to use one of the constructions of the students. • An Arduino device with two temperature sensors • PC and software for displaying and processing data • One halogen light bulb of 100 Watt • Electric cable (recommended to be one with grounding), or desk lamp • Transparent membrane • Adhesive tape • Scissors • Glass • Water This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No. 710577

  9. Proccesing the data-graphs This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No. 710577

  10. Data This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No. 710577

  11. Conclusion The temperature inside the greenhouse is …………………… than the temperature outside the greenhouse. This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No. 710577
