American Packing and Crating • APC announced that they will be opening a new facility in Chesapeake. The new modernized facility will replace the current Norfolk location. • The new location will be fully operational by March 1st, 2012 and will be ±70,000 with 5.8 acres of yard space.
Rubbermaid • Rubbermaid recently announced that they will expand operations in the City of Winchester and Frederick County. • This will be an investment of $67.25 million to retrofit an existing 454,000 SF building, and will create 71 new jobs.
IMS GEAR Virginia, Inc. • IMS GEAR Virginia, Inc. announced a $35.5 million manufacturing operations expansion in Virginia Beach. This expansion will create 80 new jobs. • They are the largest manufacturer of gear assemblies for the auto market in North America.
STIHL • The U.S. Headquarters for Stihl, Inc. recently announced a 53,000 SF expansion for their accessories building. • This Virginia Beach expansion will create 52 new jobs, double manufacturing capacity for “blow-molded” plastics and is estimated to cost $10.3 million.
Amazon • Amazon recently announced that they will locate two fulfillment facilities in Chesterfield County and Dinwiddie County; totaling 2.1 million SF. • The company is investing $135 million in these two localities and will also create 1,350 new jobs; making it the largest jobs announcement in VA since 2004.
MCO Transport • Wilmington, NC based trucking and warehousing company, MCO Transport, is expanding operations to Chesapeake, VA. • MCO Transport own all of their own chassis and trucks and will become a Green Operator at the Port. • The company is locating in Hampton Roads to directly support a recent Economic Development announcement.
