    2. Luke 16:9-13 9. “I tell you, use worldly wealth to gain friends for yourselves, so that when it is gone, you will be welcomed into eternal dwellings. 10. Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much. 11.     3. 12. And if you have not been trustworthy with someone else’s property who will give you property of your own? 13. No servant can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. YOU CANNOT SERVE BOTH GOD AND MONEY (MAMMON). (NIV) The word mammon appears 4 times in scripture; 3 times in Luke 16 and in Matthew 6:24. 3 Prepared by Pastor Manasa Kolivuso

Mammon is not money; mammon is an Aramaic word which means riches Mammon was a Syrian god; the god of riches; it came from Babylon (babble on) Babylon – comes from the word babble which means CONFUSION; so the word Babylon means “sown in confusion” It’s a reference to the Tower of Babel - it was an arrogant, prideful project that tried to get to God on their own. The Tower of Babel was a project engineered by the spirit of mammon It was an independent attempt by men to get to heaven on their own through their own strength and riches! 1.     5. Mammon says “You don’t need God, you need money.” Mammon tries to replace God with money. So Mammon is a spirit! It is a god! All money has a spirit on it; it either has the spirit of God or the spirit of mammon. That’s why you need to redeem your money by giving your tithe or the first portion to God. Money that is not tithed has the spirit of mammon on it. MAMMON PROMISES YOU EVERYTHING BUT GIVES YOU NOTHING. IT’S A LIAR MAMMON PROMISES YOU THINGS ONLY GOD CAN GIVE. 5 Prepared by Pastor Manasa Kolivuso

    6. Mammon wants to be served. It wants you to serve him Mammon will promise you security, significance, importance, freedom, power, independence, love, peace but cannot give any of it to you. MANY BELIEVERS LITERALLY DESPISE GOD WITH THEIR FINANCES. MANY HAVE SERVED MAMMON AND LOYAL TO IT INSTEAD OF GOD BECAUSE ANY TIME YOU ARE TOLD TO SERVE GOD WITH YOUR MONEY AND YOU GET WILD, ITS BECAUSE YOU ARE MORE DEVOTED (LOYAL) TO MAMMON THAN GOD. Luke 16:13 “…he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Mammon.” 6 Prepared by Pastor Manasa Kolivuso

    7. The Anti-Christ will not rule the world by the threat of nuclear annihilation The AC will rule through the threat of not being able to buy and sell (Revelation 13:16-17). Verse 17 “..so that no one could buy or sell unless he had the mark….” Mammon will say to you; “You will not be able to buy and sell without me; so you better serve me now because I am going to look after you in the future.” Mammon wants to be your God; Jesus never told anybody in the Bible that the answer to their problems is having more money.     8. No it is not evil; IT IS NEUTRAL! The LOVE of money is the ROOT of ALL EVIL! 1 Timothy 6:10 “For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.” (NIV) The service of money is the root of all evil. Money is a good servant but a bad master!     9. What it says is to use your money for good things; for things that will honour God. Lay up your treasures in heaven (Matthew 6:19-21); “where you treasure is there your heart will be also.” (verse 21) Use your money to bring people into the Kingdom of God and when you die they will welcome you into heaven. What verse 9 of Luke 16 is saying is this: “Use worldly wealth (what the devil meant for evil) to gain more friends in heaven; in other words submit your money to God for eternal purposes. 9 Prepared by Pastor Manasa Kolivuso

    10. Luke 16:11 “So if you have not been trustworthy in handling worldly wealth, who will trust you with true riches.” What are true riches? True riches are people; PEOPLE LAST FOREVER! ONLY SOULS WILL LIVE FOREVER; NOTHING ELSE! Why would God commit true riches (people) to you if you cannot be a good steward of worldly riches (money) Do you want people to know God and be committed to you? Can God trust you with worldly riches? Why should God give you people (true riches) to disciple if he cannot trust you with money (worldly riches)? 10 Prepared by Pastor Manasa Kolivuso

    11. Be a good steward of it God is looking for good stewards. God has all the resources; He has no problem giving money to you; but He has a big problem giving money through you. God--------- You--------Hurting People You and I are stewards that God wants to channel resources through. We are just RECEIVING AND FORWARDING AGENTS! Luke 16:10; can you be trusted with the little? The little is the test; Good stewards will get more from God! God will only channel resources through givers. It’s not how much you have it’s whose it is! 3.     12. The earth is the Lords by OWNERSHIP; it is ours by STEWARDSHIP. It does not matter how much you have, what matters is what you do with it. If God can trust you with little, He can trust you with more. CAN GOD TRUST YOU WITH WORLDLY WEALTH? IF HE CAN, THEN HE WILL TRUST YOU WITH TRUE RICHES (PEOPLE) WHO DO YOU WORSHIP? GOD OR MAMMON?
