  2. Nouns are words that name people, places, things, and animals.

  3. Some nouns name a special person, place, thing, or animal. These nouns are called proper nouns, and they begin with a capital letter. Mrs. Hamilton and The Pittsburgh Pirate The Pittsburgh Zoo

  4. People often have special titles that show respect for who they are or for the work they do. When a person’s special title is written with their name, use a capital letter at the beginning of the special title. Let’s look at some special titles. Principal Smith Dr. Means

  5. The words for the days of the week, the months of the year, and holidays begin with a capital letter. July Christmas Saturday

  6. Sometimes nouns name one thing. Sometimes nouns name more than one thing. tree trees

  7. Examples of More Than One • bug • bugs • rock • rocks • student • students

  8. Find the nouns that name more than one. • A squirrel eats nuts. • The dogs like to run • The elephants take a walk.
