Topics For Today • CHEMS • CHEMSPRO
AREV CHEMS • THANK YOU CHEMS COUNTIES! • Thanks to State and District staff • Continued support and commitment • Coming and Going • Welcome new counties • Hope to say welcome back to some leaving
CHEMS – Which Server? • Novell • Still the most stable server environment • Don’t use the 4.9 Client (Use 4.83 instead) • Windows • About Half 2000 / 2003 Windows Servers • As always contact me BEFORE switching! • Different drivers & configuration
CHEMS – Which Workstation? Any version of Windows is OK • Many counties moving to Windows XP • XP has been very stable • Windows Printing works fine with CHEMS • Computer • Bigger & Faster is always better • Just about any XP capable computer will work
CHEMS – Software Status Latest released version is 4.66 • A few have 4.67 to solve specific issues • 4.67 will go to everyone in December (rates) • Check the release notes for information • New GL Report & Export • Exports month-end journal entries • Setup required to make it work • Talk with Walworth or me if interested Check the web site for updated information
CHEMS – Need Support? About ½ my time goes into CHEMS support • Daily issues that come up • Server changes / upgrades • Hardware failures / recovery • New Counties coming on • Existing Counties getting into new areas • Barcoding / fuel / sub-systems • Walworth started using “full” CHEMS
CHEMS – Need Support? Some Standard Things To Try…. • Exit CHEMS / Reboot your workstation • Has anything changed? • Web site / Newsgroups • Contact training team / county • Contact me for support • Continue to use Email / Phone • Look at the big picture • Quick to think it’s CHEMS and miss the obvious • Power problems in one county • Network issues in another (UPS on Router)
CHEMS – Summary Support and very little coding expected • Daily business operations continue • Bug fixes • Equipment rate updates • Board reviews anything “big” • Any questions on AREV CHEMS ?
CHEMSPRO – When? • 2001 Meeting I was “Cut-Loose” • Estimate of 2 years • At %50 time this becomes 4 years • 2005 Meeting was the initial target • (6) Alpha reporting change • (8) Mom needed care • (4) GL Report & Export
CHEMSPRO – When? • Target now is end of 1st qtr ‘07 • Beta version ready • One or more counties parallel • 99% of the conversion coding • No documentation at this point • Assumptions • Remain focused on conversion • CHEMS Support remains @ 50% • Development procedures stay the same
CHEMSPRO – How? • Convert AREV CHEMS “as-is” • Make minor “logical” enhancements • Combined inventory, fleet with tabs • Get everyone on the windows version • Still following the same procedures • Map out the universe • County / State / Region needs • Pick a path of enhancements • State “real-time” reporting • Board & development team roll
CHEMSPRO – What’s Been Done? About ¾ of the work is done • 110 Data Tables converted • 74 Oracle Functions • 18 Stored Procedures • 15 Triggers • 100,000+ lines of source code
CHEMSPRO – Where to? Measuring the Progress • Oct-Setup Screens & Reports • Mar-Period end Reports • Jun-Programmatic reports • Oct–All Counties Clean Data • Dec-Daily Entry / Posting • Mar-Year end, Misc., Imp/Exp
CHEMSPRO – Your Part I need a few things from you • Data upload at least once ASAP • Clean up your data • All counties data by next meeting • Your ideas! Share it now…
