How Can Your Club Participate? • Volunteer to be a host club • Nominate a team leader • Recruit team members from the community • Locate and sponsor a 24 hour REST PERIOD
Volunteer your club to be a HOST CLUB • Need 12 host clubs, usually one in each area. Will not know which team visits which area until after GSE interviews and receiving background information on incoming team members. • Create interesting VOCATIONAL & SIGHTSEEING activities • Schedule programs with your area clubs
Host Clubs: • Teams are in your area 4-6 days • One host family for each incoming team member • Provide private bedroom, breakfast, lunch and supper (teams usually eat out at club meetings, receptions, and while sightseeing) • Provide laundry facilities • Provides transportation to GSE Activities
Host ClubsArea Activities • Teams provide 2-3 Rotary programs in each area. Can be combined into a single area-wide program • Team members have full day of vocational activities related to their particular vocation or interest • Have 1 free day per week to shop, rest, do laundry • Sightseeing – local attractions, businesses, government offices, visit schools
Nominate a Team Leader • Team Leaders: A “Seasoned” Rotarian • Demonstrated Leadership Skills • Familiar with D7570 • Current or former club officer or board member, active on committees • Attended district conference • No age limit, but physically capable of keeping up with younger team members
Recruit Team Members • From local community • Must be 25 - 40 years of age • Must not be Rotarians or related to Rotarians • Well along their career paths and interested in exchanging vocational interests with overseas hosts.
Provide Location for 24 Hour BREAK • A vacant condo, summer home, even a donated hotel room • Teams can be secluded without having to speak English or answer questions for 24 hours • Must provide meals (can be potluck, restaurants, or take team shopping so they can cook their own meals.)
