  2. What is “Cloud Computing”? • Data is stored, processed, and managed on remote servers using the Internet • “Cloud” term comes from diagrams used to represent networks • Comes in 3 forms • Software as a Service • Platform as a Service • Infrastructure as a Service

Why It’s Interesting • These three types of computing can be found in everyday life • Evernote, Springpad, Dropbox, iCloud, Instagram, Facebook, E-mail, and anything Google • Approximately 700% growth in hardware and software that uses cloud computing in the past 2 years alone • Table data collected from <info.apps.gov/content/what-are-services>
