  2. BACKGROUND • International Speedway Boulevard Coalition • Established 3 years ago • Policy oriented • Membership • leaders in business, education, healthcare, entertainment & government.

  3. Mission Statement A partnership of the public and private sector focused on the development of sustainable community infrastructure to promote economic development.

  4. ISB Multimodal Corridor Study • Address the need for sustainable development along the corridor from I-4 to Beachside • Sustainable development = economics, land use, the environment and multi-modal transportation • Cost = $300K from FDOT plus support and services from membership • Concept plan with deliverables: preferred alternative, short term and long term project recommendations, potential funding options, barriers to implementation • Concludes April 2011 • Public Involvement Plan = $100K from City and County plus in-kind services. Community lead

PURPOSES OF THE STAKEHOLDERS TASK FORCE (STF) • DEFINE • 3 multi-modal transportation alternative concepts for the ISB Corridor • ANALYZE and COMPARE • the alternative concepts based on areas of expertise • COLLABORATE • to determine the preferred multi-modal concept • RECOMMEND • the preferred concept to be presented to the ISB Coalition

  8. ORGANIZATIONAL ISSUES • Role of G&A • facilitation • Monthly meetings • need to set time, date, location • Approach • informal, cooperation, collaboration, consensus building • Schedule • project ends April 2011

  9. TASK PLAN • May • kickoff, orientation, data collection • June • develop criteria for alternative analysis, forecast future demand • July • develop 3 multi-modal transportation alternatives, preliminary assessment • August • comprehensive evaluation of alternatives

TASK PLAN • September • select preferred alternative, identify potential short term & long term efforts • October • refine preferred alternative, conduct public workshop 1 • November • develop preliminary funding needs, constraints/opportunities • December • identify barriers to implementation

  11. TASK PLAN • January • create recommendations to overcome barriers • February • identify needed updates and revisions to statutes, codes, ordinances, etc. • March • review draft plan, conduct public workshop 2 • April • revise draft document, submit final document to ISB Coalition
