Blizzards in general EXTREME SNOW FALL!!! 3 hours+ 56 km/h+ < 400m Blizzards, according to the US National Weather Service, are defined as “a weather condition with 56 km/h or over wind speeds, extreme snow that can reduce the visibility to less than 400 m that has been occurring for 3 hours or more”.

  3. Blizzards usually occur anywhere where it basically gets very cold and snowy. Where do they occur? ^ SOME frequently blizzard-affected areas

  5. Actually in 1978, two blizzards managed to strike the United States of America. The first was known as the Great Blizzard of 1978 and occurred in January whilst the second was called the Northeastern US blizzard of 1978s What?

  7. Watch out for: • - Television weather reports of snowstorms/blizzards in your area • - Weather radio stations Blizzard Warning!!!

  8. How do you prepare for a blizzard? Make sure that you have: • Medicine • High energy food (candy, fruit etc.) etc. • FLASHLIGHTS • First aid supplies • Portable radio • Extra car fuel • A map of your area • Knife • Blanket • Thick clothes • Cap • Something to melt snow (to drink water) with • Tow rope • SAND OR SALT (A HUGE SACK) to melt snow Preparing for a blizzard

  9. DON’T • - Let your neighbours do all the work! HELP THEM OUT! • - Run around and panic • BE AN IDIOT “Don’t”s After a Blizzard

  10. DO- Help others -Hug someone in order to conserve body heat -Try and make yourself visible to rescue helicopters -EAT AND DRINK(melt snow before drinking it) -BUILD A SNOW CAVE BY DIGGING -BUILD A FIRE -COVER EXPOSED PARTS OF YOUR BODY -Try to stay dry “Do”s After a Blizzard
