Predicates. Definitions…. What is a predicate? The predicate is what the subject is doing in the sentence (verb). Examples of the Complete Predicate…. The phone rang. “rang” is the predicate because it is telling you what the phone (subject) is doing.

  2. Definitions… • What is a predicate? • The predicate is what the subject is doing in the sentence (verb).

Examples of the Complete Predicate… • The phone rang. • “rang” is the predicate because it is telling you what the phone (subject) is doing. • Old Faithful is a giant geyser in Yellowstone National Park. • “is a giant geyser in Yellowstone National Park” is the predicate because it is telling about the subject which is Old Faithful.
