  1. TG/XD Communication Update for the TeraGrid Forum June 22, 2009 Elizabeth LeakeExternal Relations Coordinator

  2. March, 2009 Subcommittee Formed • Following a meeting on March 12, 2009, an XD Transition web landing page was developed and linked to the TeraGrid.org home page.

  3. Three ways to provide feedback, ask questions, or convey concerns: • An e-mail resource, XDQuestions@teragrid.org • An 800 number866-907-2383 calls the help desk • 3. TeraGrid User Portal Web Form Links to the following information are featured: • Up-to-date information about TeraGrid Allocable Resources (links to the resource catalog • Systems Available after March 31, 2010 (Four) • Proposal pending to continue the following systems (Seven) • Systems known to retire March 31, 2010 (Eight) • Transition Support • FAQ • Training (Allocations, Kraken, and Ranger) • Transition News

  4. To date, there have been no questions, comments or concerns about the TeraGrid to XD transition received by any of the response mechanisms. In the future, as questions are received, the FAQ and knowledge base will be updated to include answers to frequently asked questions.

  5. Additional forms of communication • Direct communication to users • A letter to users from NSF/OCI was issued by John Towns, Forum Chair on March 23, 2009 via the TeraGrid User mailing list. No response was received as a result of this letter. Additional communication will be issued when there is news to tell (storage outcome, Track announcements, etc.) • Quarterly Allocation Award/Deadline Announcements • The allocation deadline announcements include a TG-XD transition paragraph. Each features all three response mechanisms. It also includes the URL to the transition landing page. Two announcements have been issued since the initial letter to users was sent. These announcements are sent quarterly following each of the TRAC meetings (broad dissemination to iSGTW, HPCwire, among others).

  6. And more… • Web Presence • Currently the web presence is frozen pending the content transition to the LifeRay Content Management System which should be complete at the end of July, 2009. A Web Redesign RAT is being formed to facilitate the redesign of TeraGrid web interfaces. The new home page will feature information about XD in a prominent location. • Advertising Specialties • TG/XD advertising specialties will be distributed at SC09 in Portland, November 2009. Because branding for the XD program will be generated by those who win the bid, a generic XD identity will be developed. This identifier will be used on all advertising specialties and transition communication. Suggested items are: Transformers (TG to XD); Luggage tags with dual hologram; Etc.

  7. Word-of-mouth Communication • TeraGrid Forum • TRAC Review committee • TeraGrid presence at professional conferences and meetings (booths)

  8. TRAC-Important link in communication chain • Fourty-four reviewers at June TRAC meeting • Highly informed individuals • Important conduit for information to their home institutions.

  9. Campus Champions • Currently 38 campus champions • More are considering • Champions recommend the best resource for the job and will assist with transition
