CAViDS Consortium AMESim EPS MANDriveline Rattle Modeling A CAViDS Consortium Project January 10, 2014
CAViDS Consortium Objectives • Model Driveline Response in AMESim for MD EPS in MAN vehicle • Compare to Experimental Results
CAViDS Consortium Model and Results
CAViDS Consortium Model and Results Predicted Second Mode Frequency 52.3 Hz Mode Shape Amplitudes Flywheel 0 Transmission 87 Axle 13 Vehicle 0
CAViDS Consortium DVA Results 3000 radians per second driveshaft oscillation Excited by engine firing 6th gear 1600 engine rpm 53 Hz
CAViDS Consortium Conclusions • Crude AMESim model predicts second driveline resonance mode at 52 Hz which agrees with resonance frequency measured in DVA test • Highest amplitude in mode is at the transmission • Viscous damper at transmission should reduce vibration • Increasing clutch damper spring rate may drive resonance out of operating range • Hysteresis in clutch should reduce vibration
