Making Scalable Posters with D0Scan Jeff Kallenbach jeffk@fnal.gov
Want to use D0Scan to make flashy pics • Requirements: • Color, texture, “glitz” • VECTOR postscript or eps, or pdf • Screen dumps won’t work in general (they don’t scale) • Capable tools • D0Scan • ROOT (new version)
D0Scan picture in use From event file, w/ tracks and muon cells turned on, rotated
Samples - 1 No Yes (interactions.org)
Samples - 2 Colorful, busy, eye catching (and a little fuzzy, even at 4” x 3”) Too monotone, sparse & flat
Samples - 3 ?? (D0 drawing from web page) !! (D0Scan)
Using D0Scan • cepa.fnal.gov/graphics/pubGraphics/d0pics_HOWTO.html • Overview: • d0scan_qt_x to view event files, or d0scan_viewer to view inventor files (Laurent D, George A, or I can help) • Fire up the program • Get an event on the screen • Rub it (rotate, add/subtract pieces, cuts, track filters, etc.) to add flash • Save to ps (if ready to go), or inventor file (to rotate, edit colors, linestyle, other attributes) • If saved as .iv, edit (per www page), run d0scan_viewer, and save to ps • Submit to artist for final preparation
