National History • SAAB was founded on the campus of Georgia Southwestern State University on October 17, 1990. • Founded by Dr. Tyrone Bledsoe who resides in Toledo, OH. He is a recognized authority in leadership and motivation, and targets the areas of leadership, diversity, African American male development and character development. • GOAL: For ALL black males at institutions to take full advantage of their academic years and to better understand and practice their full responsibilities, rights, and privileges as citizens of this country. • Additionally: SAAB plans to work in the community with other younger black males in need of guidance and direction along with adopting Habitat for Humanity as its official service project. Our objective is that all black males be role models for each other as well as for other black males in the community.
Our History • Founded in May 2005, after the SAAB Breakfast, which was held on “Dead Day” of that semester. • The organization was started by: Quantrell Willis, Justin Grimes, Trevin Ware, Dwight Hall, and Dr. Joe Seabrooks. • The reasoning for starting a chapter of SAAB here on this campus, was to unify and educate young African American males about themselves, while we strive towards our goals of higher education.
