International Competitiveness Strategy of the Czech Republic 2012 – 2020 • Adopted by the Government in June 2011, • Coordinator: Ministry of Industry and Trade • Administrator: The Council for Information Society • Part: Services for innovative entrepreneurship (IPO, etc.) • Inspired by the IPO of Finland and Sweden • Main goals for the Czech IPO: • Facilitation of patent filing abroad • Targeted information on the state of the art and consultancy in the matter of the invention‘s patentability
Tasks for the Czech Industrial Property Office • Enhancement of awareness about conditions, benefits and options to acquire IPR protection • Facilitation of patent filing abroad • Assistance with searches and consultation services concerning patentability and IPR protection for enterprises • Industrial Property Audits • Industrial Property and Business Strategies
Enhancement of awareness about conditions, benefitsand options to acquire IPR protection • System of regular trainings for SMEs, academia, research organizations and inventors • Campaign for awareness about intellectual property in cooperation with the EPO, the OHIM, etc. • Organized at the Charles University in Prague, Czech Technical University in Prague, at the technical universities in Brno, Liberec, Ostrava etc.
Facilitation of patent filing abroad • PCT consultancy • Czech IPO issues a search report in Czech and English within 9 months from the filing date of patent application with request for full examination. • Bilateral agreements „PPH“ like signed with the IPOs of Austria, Croatia, Finland, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, Spain • Commitment to elaborate and provide the patent applicant from the country of the other Party upon his request with a search report within 9 months from the date of filing the request. • Once the applicant provides the Party with a search report elaborated by the other Party, it shall be considered as a request for accelerated examination procedure.
Assistance with searches and consultation services concerning patentability and IPR protection for enterprises • Search services delivered by the Czech IPO - various kinds of the patent and trademark searches • Services of patent attorneys • Enterprise Europe Network (EEN) – 11 regional partner organizations in the Czech Republic, • Coordinator: Technology Centre of the Academy • of Sciences of the Czech Republic
