THE RUBAIYAT Poem format: quatrain Rhyme scheme: a-a-b-a Iambic pentameter: each line is 5 clusters of 2 syllables = 10 syllables per line; the stress is on the second syllable Example: Come, fill the Cup, and in the fire of Spring Your Winter-garment of Repentance fling; The Bird of Time has but a little way To flutter -- and the Bird is on the Wing.
