Chapter 4 Section 4 • April 1775- Battles of Lexington and Concord- 20,000 Patriots surround Boston • British- led by Thomas Gage- 6,000 troops • VT militia- Colonel Ethan Allen- capture Fort Ticonderoga • Access cannons • June 17, 1775- British army attacks- Breed’s Hill • Troops are forced to fall back • British eventually take Breed’s Hill

Chapter 4 Section 4 • Battle of Bunker Hill- British win • Casualties- persons killed, wounded, missing- British • July 1775- George Washington arrives • Commanding general- Patriot forces • Continental Army • January 1776- Colonel Henry Know arrives outside Boston • Loyalists- people who still supported Britain
