  7. Reading Workshop • Minilesson • Independent Reading • Guided Reading • 2 or 3 units for each quarter • Students can check out books for IR once a week. All students will have at least 3 books (1 non-fiction). Students will be bring their books home every night and bring them to school daily. • OMS expects students to read 20-30 minutes every night. Students will read at least 1,000 pages every quarter.

  10. Assessments and Grading • Study Session before Math, Science and Social Studies tests • All assessments are based on Learning Targets

  11. Interims, Report Cards & Conferences • Interims: Sent home 4 weeks into each quarter for any child with a grade of C or lower at the time. The purpose is to let families know that more focus needs to be placed on the subject. If you get nothing, all grades are higher than a C at that time.  • Report Cards: Sent home on a Friday for Q1, Q2, and Q3. Return the envelope signed with your child on Monday. Keep the contents • Q4 Report Card is mailed several days after the end of school • Specials Report Cards (Art, Music, PE) are completed by semester. • Conferences: Initially called by team teachers or administrator. Letters will be mailed so that those who receive may schedule. After, remaining times are open for any interested parents. We will accommodate any one interested in conferencing with us about your child.

  14. Agendas Purpose: To be used as an organizational tool by students and as a communication system by parents/families and teachers They are to be signed each weekend by an adult. We check every Monday. Reward- less that 6 signatures=Invitation to Quarterly Reward Party Consequences for signatures: 3 = call to parent 6 = loss of Quarterly Reward Party 9 (and every 3 after that)= after school detention in cafeteria and parent has to pick up at 4:15pm 12 = Administrators brought in for help The good news… If your child is stressed by signatures, if s/he goes 5 days without one, s/he can bring homeroom teacher the Agenda Book, show her, and she will cross out one signature!!
