Is it a Revision? Is it a Withdrawal? Can I ignore it? • No Clear Census Date • Need a system in place to monitor all drop/add activity. • 1st step in the process is to determine if the student is actually Withdrawn.
Is it a Withdrawal? • https://ifap.ed.gov/fsahandbook/attachments/1819FSAHbkVol5Ch2.pdf • When the student failed to attend or ceased attendance in a course were they actively attending another course? • Are they scheduled to attend a later module and have they confirmed that in writing?
Could be a Pell Recalc? • Did they begin attendance in all the credits you awarded Pell for? • If not – Pell must be recalculated. • You may also need to recalculate Pell before you perform an R2T4.
Determining Payment Period Dates • Use the Dates the student was scheduled to attend • Don’t include modules with no scheduled attendance • Assess timing of the drops
Charges • Use the charges as they appeared on the date of the withdrawal • Books are included only if the institution charged them and the students didn’t have a reasonable means to get them elsewhere. • Room and Board is included if the student is living on campus.
Withdrawal Date • Schools Required to take Attendance: LDOA • Schools not required to take Attendance: Use the Withdrawal date for Official withdrawals – with some exceptions. • Scheduled Breaks – 5 days or more
