  1. The history of changes in evaluation board of health education and promotion Dr.Davoud Shojaeizadeh Secretary in board of health education and promotion & Professor of Health Education and Health Promotion, Tehran University of Medical Sciences

Introduction(1) • The evaluation board in health education and promotion was established in 1991. • This board is under the Committee on Health and Basic Sciences in Ministry of Health which is now the council of health and specialized basic medical sciences. • At first, about seven members performed their duties as the staff evaluation of health education.

  3. Introduction(2) • In 1999, Ph.D level was launched, and Tehran University of Medical Sciences and subsequently, universities of Iran, Shahid Beheshti, Isfahan, Yazd, Hamedan and Tabriz accept students up to now. • In 2010, the name of evaluation board health and education changed to the health education and promotion; up to now for master’s and PhD courses admits students.

  4. Introduction(3) • It should be mentioned that health education course renamed to health education and promotion since 2011; Currently, the board has 11 members who meet every 45 days.

The duties of the members of the evaluation board of health education and promotion(1) • Participation in designing and analyzing of test questions of master’s and PhD in health education and promotion. 2. Participation in selecting the academic test candidates in health education and promotion.

Monitoring of internal evaluation by the universities in postgraduate degree in health education and promotion. 4. Survey the internal evaluation forms sent by the universities with the course of health education and promotion.

  7. The duties of the members of the evaluation board of health education and promotion(3) 5. Adjustment the annual visits for evaluating the groups of health education and promotion. 6. Monitoring the supply of scientific staff in order to launch education master's and doctoral levels in health education and promotion. 7. Assessing the eligibility of the applicant universities to launch education master's and doctoral levels in health education and promotion.

Proposing and monitoring the capacity of students in the field of health education and promotion in each of the qualified medical universities. 9.Proposing the establishment, merge, liquidation, stop of various courses.

The duties of the members of the evaluation board of health education and promotion(5) 10.Attention to the educational quality in health education and promotion in the respective universities. 11.Reviewing in educational programs of master's and doctoral levels in health education and promotion. 12.Studying and prioritizing of the macro policies in health education and promotion regarding the health comprehensive plan.

Monitoring the proper implementation of the approved educational programs in universities in health education and promotion. 15. Determining and identifying the references books and resources in health education and promotion.

  12. Future plans of Evaluation Board in health education and promotion • Determining the fields of interest in master’s and doctoral levels in health education and promotion. • Adjustment capacity of students in the field of health education and promotion. • Planning in order to improve the quality of education in the field of health education and promotion in Universities of Medical Sciences.

  13. The fields of interest in health education and promotion in graduate courses(1) • Board members were agreed to take the fields in MS and Ph.D courses; Four fields were approved such as health education and promotion in the workplace; health Education and promotion in health & care environment; health education and promotion in community-based; health education and promotion in planning.

  14. The fields of interest in health education and promotion in graduate courses(2) • Preparation of the curriculum for above-mentioned fields was under consideration.

  15. Establishing the auxiliary sub-committees on evaluation board • In cases where the greater participation of faculty members is required, the auxiliary committees are formed under the supervision of the secretary of the evaluation board.

  16. The duties of the secretary of the evaluation board in health education and promotion(1) • Organizing and managing extraordinary and general meetings. 2. Setting agenda and received proposals. 3. Monitoring the presence and activity of members, proper implementation of the activities and follow-up referrals.

  17. The duties of the secretary of the evaluation board in health education and promotion(2) 4. Producing the report of activities carried out by the staff board to the secretary of council. 5. Monitoring the proper implementation of different stages for designing exam questions. 6. Preparing a comprehensive analytical report about education and research status of the related field and providing appropriate strategies and suggestions.

  18. How to select secretary of the evaluation board • At the first meeting of the new term, the evaluation members’ boards choose the secretory after hearing the candidates’ opinion in a closed voting. • Secretariat act to prepare vote ballot and the meeting minutes’ format. • The candidate who acquired at least two-thirds of the votes will introduce as the secretary of the evaluation board.

  19. Members of the evaluation board and auxiliary committees should be careful about the following 1. Non-participation in holding test preparation classes in Master’s and PhD levels. 2. Non-participation in providing the books and booklets as Master’s and PhD test preparation questions. 3.Non-participation in the meetings of designing questions for the tests that one of their close relatives has attended.

  20. Current capacity admissions in Master's level • in 2014 about 189 students have been accepted in Master’s in Medical Sciences Universities of Arak, Isfahan, Alborz, Ahvaz, Iran, Ilam, Baqiyatallah, Bandar Abbas, Bushehr, Birjand, Tabriz, Tehran, Tarbiat Modares, Rafsanjan, Zahedan, Zanjan, Sabzevar, Shahid Beheshti, Shiraz, Qom, Kurdistan, Kerman, Gonabad, Gilan, Mashhad, Yasuj, and Islamic Azad University, Science and Research Branch, Tehran.

  21. Current capacity admissions in doctoral level • In 2014, about 40 students were studying at the doctoral level in Medical Sciences Universities of Tehran, Iran, Shahid Beheshti, Tabriz, Yazd, Hamedan and Isfahan.
