  4. What’s available at 16+? • Level 4 Foundation Degree Applied Computing • Level 3 Vocational GCE Applied ICT • A levels ICT & Computer Studies • National Diploma (IT Practitioners) • Access • Level 2 National Certificate • BTEC First Diploma • Level 1 ECDL CLAIT

  5. National Certificate in IT • 1 year Full Time (Level 2) • Equivalent to 4 GCSE grades A* - C • Entry requires 4 GCSE’s at grade D with a D/E profile in Maths and English Language • or Foundation Certificate at Level 1 • Progress to Level 3 courses

  6. National Certificate in IT • Four compulsory + two optional units • Investigate the IT Industry • System Operations and IT skills for Industry • Hardware and Systems Installation • Customer Support

  7. Vocational GCE Applied ICT • 2 years Full Time : Level 3 • Equivalent to 2 ‘A’ levels • Need 4 GCSE’s C or above, including Maths or English with minimum D in the other • Progression to Degree, HND or job (user or technician)

  8. Vocational GCE Applied ICT • Problem Solving Using ICT • Intro to Programming • System Specification and Configuration • Numerical Modelling Using Spreadsheets • Database Design

  9. A Levels ICT & Computer Studies • Studied alongside 2 or 3 other AS/2 levels for Full Time students • 5 GCSE’s grade C or above inc. Maths & English • First year complete AS level • Second year upgrade AS level into Full A Level

  11. Foundation Degree Applied Computing • Full Time (2 years, 3 days per week) • Part Time (3 years, Afternoon • Evening) • level 3 qualification in IT-related • subject & GCSE Maths & English at • least grade C needed

  12. Foundation Degree Applied Computing • Professional project • Applied data modelling • Database design and implementation • Requirements analysis and architectures • Network server configuration

  13. Computing Access • To prepare adults to return to education • 2 – 3 days per week • Must be over 19 years of age • Need GCSE Maths and English at grade C or above, and an interest in IT • Progress to a degree course at SHU or the College’s Foundation Degree
