  2. WHAT? • Identifies : • Where you are • Where you want to go • The reasons why you aren't there yet and • Recommends how to get there.

  3. Step 1: Identify the Problem Performance discrepancy : When a current situation does not match the ideal

  4. Step 2: “Is it worth it?” • Determine if solving the performance problem is worth the cost? • Sometimes solutions cost more than the original problem

  5. Step 3: Analyze the Causes • Common culprits: • Lack of knowledge or skills or finances • But these are not always the reason why people do not perform. • What else? • Motivation, environmental support, and organizational supportmay also cause performance problems

  6. Step 4: Recommend Solutions • After determining the cause(s) of a performance problem, recommend solutions.

Group Work • Conduct a performance analysis in your group on one of the following areas: Students Teachers General Issues, Admin & Government Local Environment • You may modify/add to this list, and to the issues on the Worksheet • State the discrepancy in concrete terms • Present your Performance Analysis as a team
