Performance Analysis Carrie Mills Performance Analyst
Overview • About Me • About Performance Analysis • Submitting Returns • Importance of Good Data • New Data Collection Forms
About Me • Background in Economics and Econometrics • Worked for Cafcass for over five years • Held a variety of roles • Joined Commissioning & Partnerships in January
My Role • Data Gathering & Storage • Data Analysis & Reporting • Research
Housekeeping • American • Yes, I’m sure I’m not Canadian • Yes, even though my accent sounds like it • From Chicago • No, it’s not that windy • No, I don’t know why we call it the windy city • I entirely agree that it is very strange
And Finally.... There may be some things in this presentation (and documents I produce) that you are going to want to call “spelling mistakes”. Now that we know I’m American, I can assure you that they can be chalked up to “cultural differences”.
Performance Analysis IS • Summarizing and interpreting data • Understanding what has happened • Identifying trends • Forecasting what will happen • Analyzing root causes of both good and poor performance • Providing recommendations and strategies for moving on • Helping ensure value for money
Performance Analysis IS NOT • Making everyone look perfect all the time • Making everyone look terrible all the time • Collecting endless amounts of data just because • Punishing anyone for issues that crop up
How? • Submission • Copy and Paste Data into Storage • Check calculations • Error checking/correction • Use calculated data for final products
Data • The data you provide is the backbone of everything that I do. • Without good data, I can’t say I’m telling the truth about what has happened or make any good guesses about what is or will happen.
