General conditions for safety of disabled persons in PT • special seats reserved for disabled in all vehicles – in front part of the vehicles • low floor vehicles: 38% from total 759 vehicles • Trams: 35% (108 from total vehicles 310) • Trolleybuses 43% (64 from total vehicles 147) • Buses: 40% (122 from total vehicles 302) • in the vehicles is enough space for transport of disabled according to the EC legislation 2001/85ES (1300 x 750 mm) • safety bells and special fixtures for wheelchairs • electric/ manual ramp in the vehicle to ease the entrance to vehicle • limited acceleration of vehicles • limited speed at curves for trams • anti-slip floor in the vehicles Iva Machalová • Coimbra, Portugal • 22 – 23 March 2012

General conditions for safety of disabled persons in PT • stops are signed by barrier-free sign • guiding lines at the stops for blind • voice information system in the vehicles • - a special remote control – e.g. the vehicle answers the number of the line and direction • - also the driver in vehicle gets the information about person who is using the system Iva Machalová • Coimbra, Portugal • 22 – 23 March 2012

DP Assistant • special DPMB service for disabled and elderly passengersand families (with more than three children) • DPMB offer an accompaniment of people for travel (hospital visit, office visit etc. ) • the service is not allowed for shopping • the service is free of charge Iva Machalová • Coimbra, Portugal • 22 – 23 March 2012

CIVITAS ELAN - Minibuses • the five minibuses were purchased within the project • the minibuses have a special interior – it enables to travel up to 6 wheelchairs • the first minibus was presented to Association of the wheelchairs in September 2009 – their comments on interior were gathered • the next minibuses were adapted according to them Iva Machalová • Coimbra, Portugal • 22 – 23 March 2012

CIVITAS ELAN - Minibuses • the minibuses are operating on regular lines which are connecting the city centre and important institutions (e.g. Hospitals) with areas where disabled live • the minibuses are used also for special trips – to the shopping malls, they were used during the visit of pope Benedict XVI. • in 2011 two discussion with users of the minibuses service were hold – the change of the service to demand responsive were proposed – not decided yet Iva Machalová • Coimbra, Portugal • 22 – 23 March 2012
