  2. EOCT REVIEW

  3. THIS WEEK • 1/27 – Transformations/Reflections • 1/28 – Translations • 1/29 – Rotations • 1/30 – Review • 1/31 – Quiz

  4. Transformations A change in the position, size, and shape of a figure

  5. Key Terms • Preimage – the original figure (A) • Image – the resulting figure after the transformation (A’) • Reflection – reflects or “flips” across a line (r) • Translation - Shifts or Slides every point the same distance (T) • Rotation - rotates or turns about a point (R)

  6. What kind of Transformation?

  7. What kind of Transformation?

  8. What kind of Transformation?

  9. Reflections • An isometry transformation. • Isometry - a transformation that does not change the size and shape of the figure • Line of reflection is the perpendicular bisector of each segment joining each point and its image

  10. Reflections in the Coordinate Plane

  11. Reflect the figure with the given vertices across the given line. 1.A(2, 3), B(–1, 5), C(4,–1); y = x A’(3, 2), B’(5,–1), C’(–1, 4) 2.U(–8, 2), V(–3, –1), W(3, 3); y-axis U’(8, 2), V’(3, –1), W’(–3, 3) 3.E(–3, –2), F(6, –4), G(–2, 1); x-axis E’(–3, 2), F’(6, 4), G’(–2, –1)
