First Amendment • Congress shall make no law respecting the establishment of religion. • Freedom of RAPPS. • (religion, assembly, press, petition, speech.)
Second Amendment • Right to bear arms. • A well regulated militia
Third Amendment • No quartering of troops in peacetime without consent of the owner.
Fourth Amendment • No illegal search and seizures. • Need a search warrant.
Fifth Amendment • No double jeopardy • Miranda rights • Due process clause • Self incrimination
Sixth Amendment • Right to fair and speedy trial. • Counsel. • Witnesses • No tricks!
Seventh Amendment • Common law cases may be TRIAL BY JURY
Eighth Amendment • No excessive bail • No excessive fines • No cruel and unusual punishment
Ninth Amendment • You have more rights than what are stated in the Constitution.
Tenth Amendment • Powers not given to the U.S. by the Constitution are “reserved” to the states or people.
