Ernst Mach Grant • Financed by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Science and Research • Worldwide programme (open to nationals from all countries) • Aims: • to enhance scientific cooperation between Austrian and foreign universities • to support young researchers for their research at Austrian Universities • Name of the programme: Ernst Mach was a famous Austrian physicist and philosopher Presentation ÖAD

Target group • Graduates, postgraduates, PhD holders • Special scheme for students studying at Austrian Universities of Applied Sciences • Area of study or research • Natural and Technical Sciences • Medicine, Veterinary Medicine • Agriculture and Forestry • Social Scienes, Law and Economics • Humanities, Theology, Fine Arts Presentation ÖAD

Requirements • Applicants: • graduates pursuing a doctoral/PhD programme outside Austria or • having already completed a doctoral/PhD Degree and working at a university outside Austria • Maximum age: 35 years • Language: • Knowledge of German or • English for projects carried out in English Presentation ÖAD

Selection Criteria • Applications are assessed according to the following criteria: • Why do you want to study or conduct research in Austria? • What is the contents and the aim of your study or research project in Austria? • Which scientific methods do you want to use? • Prior studying history (duration and grades), list of publications • Selection by an expert commission in Austria Presentation ÖAD

Grant benefits • Grants are awarded for 1 – 4 months • Monthly grant rate: • for graduates: € 940 • for graduates with PhD degree: € 1040 • Accident and health insurance, accomodation (to be borne out of the grant rate) • Exemption from tuition fees • Support and guidance offered by the ÖAD branch offices Presentation ÖAD

Franz Werfel Grant (I) • Special grant for young university teachers of German language and Austrian literature • To work as visiting researcher in Austria • To carry out specialist studies in libraries, archives or research institutions • Open to nationals form all countries Presentation ÖAD

Franz Werfel Grant (II) • Duration: 4 – 9 months, extension up to 18 months is possible • Monthly grant rate: € 1040, book allowance • Follow-up activities are supported • invitation to symposiums • allowance for specialist literature • one-month research grant every three years • subscription to a specialist journal • Name of the programme: Franz Werfel was a famous Austrian writer Presentation ÖAD
