Course Description & Goal Objectives • This class will: • Instruct students in a basic understanding of music theory and technique, including: • Sight-reading • Rhythmic values • Expressive devices • Afford students the opportunity to put their knowledge into practice by performing a variety of repertoire on the keyboard

  4. Grading/Homework Policy • Students will be graded according to the following weighted categories: • Daily Participation = 40% of total grade • Tests (written & performance) = 40% of total grade • Keyboard Binder = 20% of total grade • Late Work: Late work will be accepted through the end of each unit. It is the students’ responsibility to bring each assignment to the teacher for grading/adjudication.

  5. Expectations: Follow directions the first time given Be respectful and courteous to yourself and others Come to class ready to learn and do your personal best! Keep hands and feet to yourself Consequences: Verbal Warning Conference with Teacher Recess Detention Phone Call Home Student/Parent Teacher Conference Office Referral Behavior Expectations & Discipline Policy

  6. Suggestions for Success • Check your Keyboard Binder for organization & completion • PRACTICE! • Keyboard Lab open after school 2:30pm-3:30pm Monday-Thursday • Use your Binder Reminders to log upcoming test dates and homework assignments!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
