PC RORC DDL- DIU DDL-SIU detector electronics Detector Data Link (DDL) • The DDL will be installed between the detectors and the front-end computers. • The DDL is an integral part of the ALICE data acquisition system. • The DDL provides up to 200 MB/s bandwidth. • The DDL consists of three parts: • Destination Interface Unit (DIU):on the front-end computers connected via the RORC (pRORC or HLT-RORC) • Multi-mode optical fiber cable:to bridge up to 200 meters, full duplex LC connector • Source Interface Unit (SIU):on the detector electronics connected to the RCU (prototype 1, 2, 3) TPC collaboration meeting, 2-3 June 2003

Working steps • Installation of PCs with Linux and DATE: • 1 PC with 2 DDLs for Hall 167 • 1 PC with 1 DDL for the TPC lab • Integration DATE DDL RCU in the TPC lab • Stable data stream with high performance • Control&configuration of the final RCU prototype via DDL and FeC2 • Integration of the full DAQ chain in Hall 167 • Installing the PC and the 2 DDLs • Configuration • Test runs • Production runs • Online Monitoring • Analysis TPC collaboration meeting, 2-3 June 2003
