No presentation from personal laptops. And don’t forget to submit your paper for the Proceedings before the end of the conference

  14. Posters and the Industrial Programme • We have laid special emphasis this year on posters – hence the long coffee breaks on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings; and there is a different set of posters for each of those days • You are strongly encouraged to use these opportunities to look at the posters and to talk to the poster presenters • Posters will also remain mounted over the lunch periods • At some posters there will be on-line demos • Poster authors are reminded to submit a paper for the Proceedings in the usual way, before the end of the conference • Please also take time to visit the Industrial Programme and don’t forget the parallel programme of technical seminars offered by some of the firms represented; these will take place in the Rugen room downstairs. The exhibition will remain open until the coffee/tea break on Thursday afternoon. Full details of the Industrial Programme can be found in the Guide in your Registration Pack.

  15. Computers & Networking • There are 40 PC desktops in the terminal room (Club Casino). Login/password is chep/Interlaken2004. Please do not try to change this or alter any settings, think of the next user • There are also 15 RJ45 plugs and power points for personal laptops, but no firewall so you must protect yourself • All laptops must be MAC-registered, see www.chep2004.org/networking for the form • For PC laptops, you are invited to test-drive a high speed wireless card courtesy of Enterasys. See the page www.chep2004.org/networking for details • For those using their own wireless card, don’t forget to set the wireless network (SSID) to CHEP04 to access our free service • For all networking problems, contact the network desk in the Registration area or one of the helpers in the terminal room

  16. Catering • All lunches, coffee and tea breaks will be served in the Konzerthalle. They are all self-service. • The food and drink service will be situated in the same hall as the posters and the stands of the Industrial Programme. The scarcity of seating is a deliberate attempt to encourage delegates to visit the posters and the exhibition. • The aperitif for the mid-week conference banquet will start at 19:15 (in the park outside if the weather is good) with dinner starting around 20:00. After dinner the orchestra will play until 01:00 and there will be a pay-as-you-go bar. You will need your banquet voucher for this event. Dinner will be seated and served. You can still buy extra vouchers for this event until 14:00 today (Monday)

  17. Excursions • Those who have signed up for excursions on Tuesday afternoon should have received a voucher in their registration envelope with where and when to meet. Tickets for these excursions are still available until 16:00 this afternoon (Monday). Be advised to dress for the weather and for the altitude to be expected for your excursion • Due to lack of numbers, the partner excursions to Ballenberg and Bern are cancelled. We will try to run those to Jungfraujoch and Lucerne on Thursday if we get sufficient numbers (a minimum of 20 each). Last reservations must be made at the main Registration Desk by 18:00 on Tuesday evening

  18. Additional Information • All questions on tourism, hotels and train and boat times should be addressed to the main Registration Desk in the main entrance • All questions on the conference programme should be addressed to the CERN desk in the same area • All questions on the Industrial Programme or the technical seminars offered by the firms should be addressed to Chris Parkman or Evelyne Dho
