  3. What is Glogster? Glogster is a social network that allows users to create free interactive posters, or glogs. The glog, short for graphical blog, is an interactive multimedia image. It looks like a poster, but readers can interact with the content by clicking on links, enlarging photos, playing videos or podcasts, etc.. Glogster provides the only online environment to quickly and simply designinteractiveposters. The user can insert text, images, photos, audio, videos, special effects and other elements into their glogs to generate a multimedia online creation.

  4. Glogster is a virtual Poster board.  So the possibilities are endless and they are easy to present. 

  5. Getting Started with Glogster • As with most Web 2.0 teaching tools, it is relatively simple to set up a Glogster account for your students. Getting started is safe, private, and user-friendly. • Teachers can sign up at the Glogster Edu site.

  6. Simple Sign Up • Glogster is incredibly easy to use. • Click on Sign Upat the top right corner of the page. • If you already have a Glogster EDU account, Log In.

  7. Different Accounts Available • Choose which account you want to register for.     For the FREE Basic account, click GET IT.

  8. Fill in all of your information. Click SIGN UP.

  9. Your  Dashboard. • This is the page where you can edit your profile, account settings, upgrade      to EDU Premium... or most importantly, CREATE A  GLOG!

  10. Add Students

Students Account • From here you can add students to your account • Teachers can register up to 50 student accounts. • All 50 may be added during the initial registration, or accounts can be added later to bring the total number of accounts to 50. After entering in the number of student accounts you need, you will receive randomly generated nicknames and passwords in your message box and email. You can change your students’ passwords before you distribute them to your students, or give your students the randomly generated passwords and instruct them to change their passwords under Account Settings. • Or you can set your own login names for student.

  13. Edit Students Accounts If you click on SHOW ALL, you can edit student  names, passwords, or delete students it is for statistical purpose only.

  14. Students Profile •  On EDIT to change the full name of the student. This information will not appear on the student's  profile page. • Click on CHANGE PASSWORD to change password.

  15. Embed • Use this code to embed on your WIKI/Webpage. You can change the height       and width of your Glogster also.

Support of files • If your audio, video, or image file is not uploading or linking correctly, please check that it is in one of the following supported formats: • Upload • Audio: .aac, .aiff, .m4a, .mp1, .mp2, .mp3, .ogg, .raw, .wav, .wma • Video: .asf, .avi, .m2v, .mpeg, .mpg, .nsv, .wmv, .mp4, .flv, .mov,.m4v • Image: .jpg, .jpe, .jpeg, .bmp, .gif, .tif, .tiff, .png, .pcx, .wmf, .tga, .psd, .crw, .cr2, .nef, .orf, .raf, .dng, .mrw, .pef • Link • Audio:.mp3 • Video: .flv (+YouTube URL) • Image: .jpg, .png, .bmp, .gif

  17. Why use Glogster in the Classroom? Glogster has become enormously popular in recent times. It is fast developing as a major tool for students to demonstrate their learning in a creative manner. In the classroom, Glogster gives the students the opportunity to increase digital literacy and enhance their learning experiences by: • Enjoy a fun Learning experience • Demonstrate mastery of technology tools • Collaborate with others to broaden and deepen understanding • Use the writing process, media and visual literacy, and technology skills to create products that express new understandings • Use technology tools to organize and display knowledge and understanding in ways that others can view, use, and access • Tapping into learners’ interests, offering appropriate challenges, and increasing motivation • Providing learners options for demonstrating what they know

  18. Who can use Glogster in the Classroom? • Glogster can be used by teachers and students. Due to its simplicity, even young students can create awesome presentations. • As young as first grade students.

  19. What can Glogster be used for in the Classroom? Glogster can be used for any curriculum area. Students can create a Glog to display any new knowledge or learning. Completed glogs can be embedded into your school VLE or Class wiki. The following are different examples for different subject areas. English: • Book Reviews • Character Portrayals • Story Settings • New Vocabulary • Parts of Speech  • Play Posters • Poetry Math: • Explain Mathematical concepts • Demonstrate Learning/ Understanding in various areas. • Create a GLOG showing Real World Maths • Create a GLOG on Famous Mathematicians

Science: • Glog on Body Systems • Interactive Solar System Glog • Explain Forces • Energy Glogs • History: • Famous people, time or era • Timeline of events • Arguments for and against • Specific Information on historical Episode. • Art: • Famous Artist/Period • Comparison of work/ paintings • Detailed analysis of paintings

Ideas • Create a Virtual Collage from images, audio, and video from the web.  • Create a step by step glog of a math problem or concept  • Create a biography of someone in history going down the glog as they get older  • Create a timeline of events  • Showcase an experiment in class  • Give directions on how to do something.  • Create a review of a book, movie, restaurant, play, etc.  • Create a glog for pages in a yearbook  • Create a glog about an event for the school news or newspaper  • Create a Compare and Contrast Glog • Create a Vocabulary Glog for your students  • Create a Glog Syllabus  • Create a Glog Chapter Review for chapters of a textbook (Would make a great end of the year activity)  • Create a "Who Am I" Glog to get to know your students.  Great Icebreaker  • Create a Family Tree Glog
