What is GCF? • GCF is the greatest common factor.
What is LCM? • LCM is the lowest common multiple.
How to do GCF • The GCF of two or more whole numbers is the largest whole number that divides evenly into each of the numbers. • There are two ways to find a GCF, the first method is to list all of the factors of each number. • Then list the common factors and choose the largest one.
How to do LCM To find the LCM (Lowest Common Multiple) of many numbers, find the prime factors of each number. Write down each prime factor once. If it occurs in more than one of the numbers, you should write it down once, but if it occurs more than once in a number, write it down that many times. Once you have found all the prime factors like this, you can multiply them all together to form the LCM.
